The First Annual Christmas JOY

The Joy Mission’s “Christmas JOY” program aims to fulfill Christmas lists for kids who have survived the death of a parent.

However, our goal is to not only bring JOY to these kids on Christmas morning, but to also alleviate a burden financially and/or mentally on the surviving parent or caregiver.

We also think it’s a great way for the community to get involved and support this child and family.

It’s JOY all around this Christmas!!!

We have made it easy for you to get involved:

Step 1: Take a look at the Amazon Christmas Lists of our kids involved in the Christmas JOY program this year.

Step 2: Add an item or two from one of their list to your Amazon cart.

Step 3: Make sure when you are purchasing you click to ship to the “Registry Address” under your Other Addresses section. This will ship their gifts directly to their surviving parent/ caregiver so they can gift it to them on Christmas morning.

Bonus Step: Share this with your friends and family on your social media, your team at work, your Bible Study group, or book club! How wonderful would it be if this turned into a movement with communities becoming Santa Claus and bringing some extra JOY to these kids this Christmas?

Gracyn Eganey (age 10)

Gracyn is an animal-loving and energetic ten year old.  With the sudden death of her mom three years ago, we wondered how it would impact her sweet spirit.  She was a pretty shy kid most of her childhood, but after losing her mom, she began to find courage and confidence with the encouragement from her family.  Gracyn brings joy to others through her performances in gymnastics, acting, choir, and swim meets.  She loves adventures with her dad and pets, and she is always up for trying exotic foods and playing board games— she beats her Gigi and Aunt in almost every UNO or Yahtzee battle.  We look forward getting some of Gracyn’s favorite things under her tree this year!

Cayden Dunn (age 11)

Cayden and Jordan (below) are brothers that were raised by their grandmother, Juanita Dunn. Juanita adopted both of them as babies and has been their sole guardian until she passed away this summer from COVID-19. Their aunt, Tynika Dunn has stepped into the role of their guardian and says that the boys are doing well but often remark on how much they miss her. This smile on Cayden’s face makes use smile. Cayden is very handy and enjoys putting things together like model car sets and 1000 piece lego sets. He also enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends.

Jordan Dunn (age 12)

Jordan is Cayden’s (above) big brother. The boys were raised by their grandmother, Juanita Dunn. Juanita adopted both of them as babies and has been their sole guardian until she passed away this summer from COVID-19. Their aunt, Tynika Dunn has stepped into the role of their guardian and says that the boys are doing well but often remark on how much they miss her. Jordan is a gaming enthusiast. He finds JOY playing video games, playing basketball, hanging out with his friends and riding his scooter.

The Ross Family (ages 10, 6, and 2)

Kaiden (age 10), Wyatt (age 6) and America Belle’s (age 2.5) dad, Jason, passed away unexpectedly at the end of October 2021. Jason played as a goalkeeper for an adult soccer league and his love for soccer, Atlanta United, and all Atlanta based sports bleed into his kids. They find JOY, most recently, that Atlanta is now home to the World Champion Atlanta Braves. Kaiden, Wyatt and America love going anywhere with their dad (concerts, beaches, mountains, parks, pools, lakes, aquariums, theaters and Disney), but what they will miss most is just being dogpiled on top of him in the living room at the end of everyday. It’s only been a few weeks since their dad died and we know going into this time of year will be tough no matter what. We are hoping that Christmas JOY is one less thing their mom, Briana, has to think about this month and will be sure to bring some special JOY to this precious family this Christmas.

Camryn Davis (age 14)

For those of you following The Joy Mission, you probably recognize Camryn. Camryn is now in 8th grade and lost her mom, Lindsey earlier this year in February. She loves her cats, painting, hiking, riding 4-wheelers, martial arts and tacos. She finds all her JOY and healing in her art. Since Camryn’s JOY Art Auction her Dad, Chris has been in the hospital with COVID-19 and then the day after he was released was in a horrible UTV accident. He has undergone 9 surgeries so far and trying to heal up for his 10th coming soon. Chris is blessed to be alive, but with these recent updates we felt it really important to keep pouring into Camryn and providing where we could.

“Of course there is a Santa Claus. It’s just that no single somebody could do all he has to do. So the Lord has spread the task among us all. That’s why everybody is Santa Claus. I am. You are.”
